How to identify a car gear box is damaged

1. Difficult to change gears, change gears

With a manual transmission, the gearbox is extremely simple, but it often encounters difficulty in gear shifting or shifting gears. For example, change from "mo" to 1 or switch between different numbers even if the clutch and lever are cut.

This sign indicates that the gearbox oil is exhausted, dirty, may also use non-standard oil or the clutch pin has not been adjusted properly.

2. There is a burning smell

A strong smell indicates that the gearbox is overheating, causing the gearbox oil to start burning and not working properly. Gearbox oils not only help lubricate gears, it also has a cooling effect by continuously circulating the heat generated when shifting gears.

Another possible cause for the burning smell on a manual transmission is the inappropriate use of the clutch, causing the friction pads to become too large and begin to produce an unpleasant smell. However, this smell will quickly disappear if the driver adjusted the way to drive.

3. The car is noisy when "mo"

The unpleasant sounds when the vehicle is idling indicates that the transmission oil is due for replacement, or it could be a sign of more serious mechanical damage. However, most of the noise generated by bearings or gears in gearboxes has worn and needs to be replaced.

4. Noise and vibration operation gearbox

Depending on whether your vehicle uses a manual or an automatic transmission, the gearbox may show damage in different ways. Gearboxes often have jarring noises when changing gears, despite all clutch cuts. This phenomenon can occur when the clutch is worn out, or the gears in the gear box fail.

On automatic transmissions, if the vehicle is not moving smoothly as usual but it is shaky or difficult to change gears, it is necessary to check the vehicle immediately.

5. Slide the numbers

If working properly, the gearbox will continue to operate at the gear level you want, or the computer will automatically change gears when a certain rpm is reached to save fuel. However, if the gearbox slips, it can jump to different gear levels, or jump back to "mo" with the manual.

This is a dangerous symptom, as it can lose control of the vehicle when it is necessary to get out of an emergency. Therefore, you should take the car to the repair shop to be able to quickly fix the gearbox.

6. Taper not cut

This is a symptom that often haunts those who drive a manual transmission. Although the clutch pedal is fully pedaled, the clutch still does not cut completely, and the clutches continue to press against the flywheel, causing the gear shift to produce annoying noises.

However, this symptom is easy to overcome, does not cost much; Just adjust the stroke range of the clutch, everything works smoothly.

7. Gearbox oil leakage

Oil leakage from a gearbox is one of the easiest ways to detect a problematic gearbox. On automatic transmissions, transmission oil plays an important role in the vehicle's operation. Therefore, if you find oil droplets lying under the car, please take the car to check immediately.

Unlike machine oil, the gearbox does not consume oil during operation, so if you realize that the vehicle lacks oil, it is sure to leak out.

8. Lack of sensitivity

Gearboxes are designed to shift gears correctly, if they are found to be performing less efficiently than they should be without problems. On the manual gearbox, this can be realized when the gear shift and revs increase, but the car remains idle. This is often a sign of worn leaves.

The automatic transmission also has inertia, but only shows when shifting to Park or Drive mode. Normally, the gearbox will switch quickly to these two modes, but if you find it difficult to perform best, you should take the car to check and fix.

9. Engine test light is on

Although this lamp can light up when there is any damage to the engine and transmission, it can also tell you that the transmission is in trouble.

In order to know exactly what causes this indicator to light, you can either buy commercially available reading devices or have your car serviced.
